Queen City Lake

We are the Gateway to Your Outdoor Adventures and Experience! As you step through our Gateway, be sure to experience Queen City Lake reservoir, one of the City of LaFayette’s many “Hidden Jewels.” 

Paddle BoardingVisitors to our 260-acre lake can enjoy the experience of fishing from sunrise to sunset, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing or sailing, just to name a few.

We host fishing tournaments, fishing lessons, sailing lessons, paddle board demonstrations and much more recreational events throughout the year. These events are organized by Parks & Recreations and are supervised. The recent addition of the boat dock offers easier access for boats.

The entrance to Queen City Lake is located on Round Pond Road just past LaFayette High School.  The address for the boat ramp and dock area is 303 Lakeview Drive.

Listed below are the ordinances set by the City of LaFayette.

Sec. 16-6. - Queen City Lake regulations.

(a)  The following regulations shall be observed at Queen City Lake:

(1)  All provisions of the state department of natural resources, game and fish commission are to be observed, including limits and quantities of daily catch;

(2)  Hours shall be sunrise to sunset;

(3)  No alcoholic beverages;

(4)  No fishing from the residential areas without permission of property owner;

(5)  No littering, all trash to be removed;

(6)  Keep off dam and spillways;

(7)  Boats with gasoline powered motors may be operated between dawn and dusk but no boat may be operated over idle speed. A person found guilty of violating this subsection shall be fined a minimum of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) for a first violation; a minimum five hundred dollars ($500.00) not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for a second violation; and one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for a third violation. In addition to the above fines, a person upon being found guilty of a second violation of this subsection shall be suspended from using or being upon the Queen City Lake for a period of thirty (30) days. Also, in addition to the above fines, a person upon being found guilty of a third violation of this subsection shall be suspended from using or being upon the Queen City Lake for a period of twelve (12) months.

(b)  The provisions of this section will be enforced by the city police department and the state department of natural resources, game and fish commission.
